FI-IMPACT Tools

FI-IMPACT has developing two Impact Assessment Tools to assist FI-PPP Phase 3 projects in better assessing their socio-economic impact.

These tools have three main objectives:

a) To provide a mechanism to support FIWARE FI-PPP Phase 3 funded projects, as well as SMEs and web entrepreneurs not directly funded to date under FIWARE, to actively think about the Innovation Focus, Market Focus, Feasibility, Market Needs and Social Impact related to their intiative as it develops.

b) To provide a mechanism to collect empirical data from FIWARE FI-PPP Phase 3 funded projects to contribute to the overall impact assessment of the FI-PPP Phase 3 and assist in forecasting the potential impact of this intervention up to 2020

c) To provide respondents with an Impact Assessment Report which provides feedback on each of the KPIs as well as benchmarking themselves against the average performance of the wider FIWARE PI-PPP Phase 3 ecosystem. This will give Stakeholders quantitative insight allowing them to take corrective initiative where required.

Self Assessment Tool

The FI-IMPACT Self Assessment tool provides a sanity check for start-ups, by:

  • providing a check-list of the main steps that every start-up should consider following based on good practice;
  • providing an assessment of the progress made by the company from different perspectives, measuring to what extent the business is taking advantage of state-of-the-art practices and principles, as defined in literature;
  • providing instant feed-back by benchmarking the respondent’s scores against their peers based on the average scores of all FIWARE respondents.

These results allow the respondent to identify areas of good performance and areas where improvement is needed and measure progress in time, if the survey is repeated.

Target users include:

  • start-up entrepreneurs who are have a well defined business idea and approach to the market
  • Leaders of innovative SMEs developing a new product/service, entering a new market or launching a new business idea.

This tool is not designed for early stage start-ups still defining their idea and not yet ready to focus on potential markets.

Accessing this tool is based on setting up a free user account on the FI-IMPACT website. Once an account is set up, the respondent will create a record for the project to be assessed and answer the questions in the Self Assessment tool. After finalisation of the survey, the respondent has access to the data submitted and a free Impact Assessment Report via their "My Page" on the FI-IMPACT website, which included benchmarking against the average performance of other FIWARE respondents. Respondents are welcome to undertake the self assessment at different stages of the implementation of their existing project or new projects.

Impact Assessment Tool

This tool was designed and implemented primarily to support data collection from sub-grantees funded by FIWARE Accelerators under Phase 3 of FI-PPP. As this is a closed community, based on data provided by FIWARE Accelerators, FI-IMPACT set up project records associated with each funded sub-grantee and provided a unique URL for each intiative to associate the intiative details with a user account. The nominated person for each sub-grantee set up an account on the FI-IMPACT website, associated the FIWARE FI-PPP funded project with their account and completed the Impact Assessment Questionnaire. Upon completion of the survey, respondents had access to an Impact Assessment Report, which included benchmarking against the average performance of other FIWARE respondents and Mattermark scores.

The sub-grantees funded under FI-PPP Phase 3 were invited to complete the Impact Assessment questionnaire between June 2015 - March 2016. The outputs of all completed Impact Assessment questionnaire were analysed and presented in aggregated form to contribute to the overall impact assessment of the FI-PPP Phase 3 and assisted in forecasting the potential impact of this intervention up to 2020. The analysis of the aggregated data was shared in a variety of ways including public deliverables and infostories

If you were nvolved in a funded FIWARE project, your project received an invite URL to complete the Impact Assessment Survey, via your Accelerator.
