CreatiFI launch FIWARE Call focused on Creative Industries - Deadline 30 November '14

CreatiFI focuses on supporting SMEs, web entrepreneurs and ICT developers interested in developing new applications for the Creative Industries based on the FIWARE Technology and enablers by providing grant funding and an eight month program.

In the case of CreatiFI, the first call is focused on prototype design and development. As a result it is required to submit a business idea (Management of team, customer problem, product or service you plan to offer, target market/customers, sales and marketing strategy, business model, competitors, competitive advantage, challenges and risks), a mock up and a prototype plan (milestones for next 12 months, budget up to €50,000, required skills and resources, challenges and risks) of a prototype that can be developed over an 8 month period. Proposals must be submitted in English. 

The Grant can only reimburse costs related to manpower, equipment, travel and third party related to the FIWARE prototype development, up to a maximum of €50,000.

All proposals will be linked with a local hub in Beneluz, Scandinavia, Italy or Spain. Submissions will be evaluated by independent expert evaluators with one local evaluators and one non-local evaluator. Evaluation criteria include: FIWARE Adoption and Acceleration; Technological excellence and Business potential. 

Following the first phase of the evaluation, the best 120 teams (30 per hub) will be invited to a pitching and final section event organised by each hub on 16 December. Each team will have five minutes to pitch their project. On 17 December, 15 teams per hub will receive feedback and coaching from the selection board members.

It is envisaged that 60 proposals will be selected (15 per CreatiFI hub) will be selected, awarded a grant of €10,000 for their designs and are eligible to join the program to develop the FIWARE prototype. In April 2015 the prototypes are checked against milestones in the approved prototype plans and subject to a positive outcome the team will be awarded a second payment of €15,000 for the work completed in the previous four months. In August 2015, the final evaluation will look at the final prototype and final report. If the evaluation is positive the team will be awarded €25,000 for the previous four months work. 

Across the entire programme (2 years), CreatiFI has a budget of €4.8 million to be allocated in grants via open calls to SMEs, web entrepreneurs and ICT developers. Grants will be provided on a phased basis based on delivery of milestones up to a maximum of €50,000.
