INCENSe launch FIWARE Call focused on Clean Tech sector - Deadline 15 January 2015

INternet Cleantech ENablers Spark (INCENSe) is focused on Smart Grids, ICT, Automation Solutions, Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage, Electric Mobility, Renewable Generation. Applicants are invited to propose the development of disruptive FIWARE applications in the Clean Tech sector. INCENSe plans to support SMEs and web entrepreneurs through a combination of a grant of up to €150,0000 and a six month personalised acceleration programme.

INCENSe is specifically looking for two different types of projects:

  1. Projects using FIWARE Technologies with a working prototype (valued at less than €1 million euro), at least two founders working full time on the project and a target market launch date within six months after the submission deadline 
  2. companies in the market for less than seven years, with a turnover less than €2 million, founders still own 51% of equity and the objective is globalisation or consolidation of a change of business focus. 

It is necessary to submit the application online by completing the administrative data, project proposal in four sections (project idea, team, business model, technology) and uploading the business plan and FIWARE Technologies Use plan. 

Proposals will first be checked for eligibility and then reviewed by two independent experts based on business potential, quality of the management team, strategic fit and FI-PPP Linkage. The best 40 proposals will be invited to an Interview, after which the Evaluation Committee will select 25 finalists. The finalists will then pitch their project and a final list of 14 beneficiaries will be selected. 

Funding is released on a phased basis

  • 1st stage (month 0) grant of €25,000 upon signature of the grant agreement
  • 2nd Stage (month 3) €75,000 after criteria for second stage have been completed and milestone validated
  • 3rd Stage (month 6) €50,000 afer criteria for third stage have been completed, milestones validated and INCENSe consortium receive interim payment from European Commission

Across the entire programme (2 years), INCENSe has a budget of €6.2 million to be allocated in grants via two open calls to 42 SMEs / web entrepreneurs.
