FI-C3 launch FIWARE Call focused on Smart Territories, Media & Content and Care & Well being - Deadline 30 Nov '14

FI-C3 focuses on supporting SMEs and web entrepreneurs interested in developing applications based on the FIWARE Technology and enablers in the areas of Smart Territories (Smart city guides, smart city platforms, smart city services); Media & Contents (multimedia augmented reality, transmedia/cross media devices, video games) and Care & Well being (smart home, indoor position, personalised connected media) by providing grant funding, business modelling and customer development workshops, business coaching and Living Lab support.

In the context of this call, only single legal entities (either SME or individual entrepreneur) can be supported (no consortiums).

Proposals will comprise of the completed online application form and a proposal document using the template provided.

FI-C3 has allocated €1.8 million under Call 1 to provide grants to 15 - 20 projects. 

Grant funding can be used to cover the following cost centres:

  • development of applications and services
  • demonstration of the developed applications and services
  • activities to prepare take up and use of the developed applications and services

The maximum budget available to each SME is €75,000 per 6 month period up to a maximum of €150,000. The maximum budget available to each web entrepreneur is €25,000 per six month period with a limit of €50,000. Travel costs, subcontracting and other costs are caped at 5%, 25% and 10% of the total project costs, based on reimbursement at 100%. Personnel costs is reimbursed at 75% of cost.

Proposals will be submitted by 30 November 2014. Following an admissibility check, short listed proposals will go through Phase I Pre-selection by the Selection Committee, which runs from 01 - 07 December. The top ranked proposals (maximum of 40 proposals) will be admitted to Phase 2. During Phase 2, short listed projects will be invited to make an e-pitch in front to a Selection committee of 8 members with a range of experience by video-conference on 11 & 12 Dec. The epitch will be evaluated on the same basis as Phase 2. The average score of the 8 committee members will be calculated and multiplied by the score from the phase 1 evaluation to determine the final ranking. Negotations for successful projects will commence from 15 December with the expected project start date of 01 January 2015. 

Every 3 months projects will be evaluated by a Monitoring Committee to determine progress against pre-defined milestones. Payments will be provided on a staged basis based on the results of the quarterly evaluations. 

The second call will open on 01 May 2015 and the third call on 01 November 2015.
