FABulous focuses on supporting SMEs and web entrepreneurs interested in developing applications based on the FIWARE Technology and enablers related to 3D Printing in the field of design manufacturing, logistics and content-based services.
The first call for FABulous opened on 01 November and closes on 18 December. All proposals must be submitted in English. Click here to access the online application form.
SMEs (with more than 3 years of activity), established web entrepreneurs (2 - 3 years of activity) and emerging web entrepreneurs & Start-ups (less than 2 years of activity) can apply, submitting one proposal per single entity.
Four key challenges have been identified for Call 1 based on potential uses of FIWARE assets:

FABulous is also interested in innovative services and applications that address sectors such as Consumer Goods & Lifestyle; Textile; Jewellery; Art & Design; Aerospace, Automative Manufacturing; and Bio & Healthcare.
FABulous plans to apply the concept of service maturity levels:
It is necessary to state in the proposal the profile of industrial partner with whom you plan to carry the trial.
Call 1 aims to fund 100 proposal to enter Service Maturity Level 1, 30 of these to pass to Service Maturity Level 2 and 10 of these to enter Service Maturity Level 3.
FABulous will support 100% of the project costs under Service Maturity Level 1 and 75% of project costs under Service Maturity Level (SML) 2 & 3. The remaining 25% of project costs should be covered by participants through private and regional innovation and web entrepreneurship investment programmes.
Proposals will comprise of the completed online application form and a proposal document using the template provided.

In the case of SML 2 and 3, partnering costs to collaborate with Experimental Industrial Manufacturing partners is also an eligible cost.
Each proposal will be evaluated by 2 independent experts based on four selection criteria: Soundness of service concept and innovation capacity; Use of FIWARE Technology; Impact and market readiness and Quality of the project team.
The evaluations will be consolidated and the highest scoring proposals will be selected. It is expected that initial projects will commence in March 2015 and run from four months within Service Maturity Level 1.
Across the complete programme (September 2014 - August 2016) FABulous has €5.44 million in funding to provide as grants under two open Calls with €4 million to be allocated across the three stages of Call 1.
The second call will open in June 2015.
