Fractals Agricultural-focused Call Closes 28 February

FRACTALS  is focused on supporting ICT SMEs and web entrepreneurs to develop FIWARE based applications addressing the needs of the agricultural sector. 

It is a requirement that applications outline the FIWARE General Enablers that they plan to use. FRACTALS will use the FISpace Platform and technical support to develop the required applications and services. 

FRACTALS Call opened on 30 November 2014 and closes on 28 February 2015. All proposals must be submitted in English. Click here to access the online application form.

Key topics identified for this Call based on potential uses of FIWARE enablers include:

  • Enhancing Productivity on the Farm
  • Accessing Markets and Value Chains
  • Improving Public Service Provision in the Agricultural sector

Applications can be an SME working along or Web entrepreneurs in teams of up to five members whereby one member is a legal entity.

Projects are expected to last from four to nine months. FRACTALS will provide mentoring services, access to the GEMIM Incubator in Turkey and clustering and networking services.

Evaluation criteria include:

  • Experience and Technical Capacity of the Applicant
  • Integration with FIWARE technologies
  • Technological Excellence
  • Quality of the Implementation Plan
  • Ability to provide significant value to end users
  • Measures to engage end users in validation through open Innovation
  • Market Potential

FRACTALS is one of the 16 Accelerator projects funded within the FI-PPP Phase 3 to support the use of FIWARE enablers in future products and services. While some of the other Accelerators will have multiple call, FRACTALS plan to only have one call and then fund 50 – 60 SME projects. While a application can be submitted to multiple accelerator calls, a proposal can only be selected and supported by one Accelerator to avoid double funding. 

Across the complete programme (September 2014 - August 2016) FRACTALS has €5.52 million in funding to provide as grants of €50,000 - €100,000 to selected projects.
